Der Internationale W\u00e4hrungsfonds beziffert sie auf 152 Billionen Dollar. Davon sind zwei Drittel Privatschulden. Hohe Unternehmensschulden sowie Konsum- und Hypothekarschulden von Privaten sind risikoreich und k\u00f6nnen Krisen ausl\u00f6sen \u2013 das hat uns der Ausbruch der Finanzkrise vor bald zehn Jahren eindr\u00fccklich vor Augen gef\u00fchrt. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg waren die Schuldenberge ebenfalls hoch. In den Boomjahren der Nachkriegszeit brachte man sie wieder auf ein akzeptables Niveau. Aktuell gestaltet sich der Schuldenabbau jedoch schwieriger.
